What we can haul (almost everything)
Standard Orlando junk removal companies can take just about anything that isn't hazardous, biohazardous, or explosive. That means furniture, appliances (even fridges — freon is recovered at the recycling facility), electronics, mattresses, construction debris, yard waste, and anything else you'd toss in a bin if it fit.
What we can't legally take in Florida
Florida DEP rules and Orange County landfill policy keep these items out of standard junk trucks. Trying to sneak them in gets the whole load rejected at the transfer station — which raises everyone's price.
- Wet paint, stains, solvents, and pool chemicals
- Propane tanks (empty or full) and other pressurized cylinders
- Gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze, and other automotive fluids
- Tires (tire disposal is handled through separate programs)
- Asbestos-containing materials and lead-painted debris
- Medical / biohazard waste, including sharps
- Ammunition, fireworks, and any explosives
- Large volumes of dirt, concrete, or roofing shingles (special dumpster required)
Where to take hazardous items in Central Florida (free)
Orange County residents can drop hazardous household waste for free at the McLeod Road Transfer Station. Seminole County has a facility in Longwood; Osceola County uses the Bass Road facility in Kissimmee. All accept paint, chemicals, batteries, and fluorescent bulbs at no charge for residents with a valid ID.
Propane exchange programs at Home Depot, Lowe's, and most Publix locations take empty and expired tanks for free.
Dried paint IS haulable
One useful exception: paint that's been dried out (mix cat litter or hardener into the can, leave the lid off for 48 hours) is no longer considered hazardous and goes in a standard load. Same with tightly capped empty containers.
Frequently asked questions
Can you take a refrigerator with freon still in it?+
Yes. Freon-containing appliances go to a certified recycling facility where the refrigerant is legally recovered. That's included in your load price.
What if I only have a few cans of paint?+
Dry them out first (kitty litter method above) and toss them in the load. Fresh wet paint has to go to the county drop-off.
Do you take TVs and other electronics?+
Yes — TVs, monitors, printers, computers all count as e-waste, included in the load price, and get properly recycled.
