The number one thing that speeds up a same-day pickup: your pile is ready when the crew rolls up. Every minute the crew spends helping you decide what stays adds to the load size and the price.
The 15-minute prep checklist
Do these five things while you wait for the truck. Total time: about 15 minutes for a garage or single room.
- 1. Stage everything in one spot — driveway, garage, or curb. Consolidated piles quote smaller than spread-out piles.
- 2. Pull the keepers out — anything you're on the fence about, move it back inside now. Once it's on the truck, it's gone.
- 3. Empty the drawers of dressers, desks, and filing cabinets. Loose contents count toward volume.
- 4. Bag loose stuff (clothes, small trash, cords) into black contractor bags — they load faster and price cheaper.
- 5. Clear a path from the pile to where the truck will park. Blocked driveways add lift-distance surcharges at some haulers (not us, but many).
What to have ready when you call
Three things speed the phone estimate: (1) a rough count of what you have — 'a sofa, a mattress, a treadmill, and ten boxes' works great; (2) whether it's inside, in the garage, or already outside; (3) any stairs, gate codes, or HOA rules for the crew.
Same-day timing windows
Book before 10 AM and you'll usually get a 2-hour window that same afternoon. Book between 10 AM and noon, and you'll get an end-of-day slot (usually 3–6 PM). Book after 2 PM and same-day becomes unlikely — but next-morning slots are almost always open.
