Start with the 4-pile sort
Every efficient estate cleanout starts with four clearly labeled piles inside the home: KEEP, DONATE, SELL, and HAUL. Don't move anything until it's tagged.
Assign one family member as the final sign-off on each pile — decision fatigue is the #1 reason cleanouts stretch from one day into three weekends.
Room-by-room sequence
Work in this order to keep momentum. Save the hardest rooms for last, when your team is warmed up and decision-making is faster:
- 1. Garage & storage areas (fastest wins — most is haul)
- 2. Kitchen (appliances, dishes, expired pantry)
- 3. Bathrooms (medications to pharmacy dropoff, everything else haul)
- 4. Bedrooms (clothes first — donate bags fill fast)
- 5. Living areas (furniture, electronics)
- 6. Master bedroom and personal items (last, most emotional)
- 7. Attic, crawl spaces, backyard shed (final sweep)
Paperwork you must keep
Before anything gets hauled, set aside a bankers box for: death certificate copies, will and trust documents, deed and title paperwork, tax returns for the last 7 years, insurance policies, bank statements for the last 12 months, and any medical records that may be needed for probate.
Everything else — old bills, expired warranties, junk mail archives — can be shredded or hauled with the rest.
Donation pickups vs. hauling
For gently used furniture and clothing, Habitat for Humanity ReStore and Goodwill Central Florida both offer free scheduled pickups from Orlando-area homes. Books go to the Orange County Library System donation program. Working appliances (under 10 years old) are accepted by most local charities.
For everything else — worn, broken, or too much to schedule — one full-truck cleanout haul in a single afternoon is usually cheaper and faster than juggling three donation pickups over two weeks.
How our crews handle estate work
Uniformed, respectful, and quiet. We work at the family's pace — if you need to pause a room, we pause the room. Nothing is thrown loose into the truck in front of you; large items are wrapped, boxes are stacked. Full-home estate loads typically run one to three full trucks depending on square footage.

How do you handle items the family wants to keep?+
Anything tagged KEEP or left inside a designated 'do not touch' room stays put. We only load what's staged in the haul pile or clearly tagged.
Do you provide sorting help or just hauling?+
Our crews haul — we don't make keep/donate decisions for you. For sorting help, we partner with local senior move managers and can refer one.
